Escrita por Freddie Mercury "Don't Stop Me Now" é um single da banda britânica de rock Queen, lançada em janeiro de 1979 pela primeira vez no álbum Jazz. Possui uma melodia mais voltada ao rock puro, diferente de outras canções da banda que tinham um caráter mais melancólico e melódico. A sua letra possui um caráter eufórico e poético: o narrador diz nunca querer parar de viver tão intensamente usando várias metáforas. Por ser uma canção extremamente conotativa, há várias formas de interpretação dessas metáforas. O Queen era formado por Freddie Mercury (vocais, piano e composição); Brian May (guitarra e vocais); Roger Taylor (bateria, percussão e vocais) e John Deacon (baixo).

A Barenaked Ladies (abreviação BNL) é uma banda canadense de rock alternativo formada atualmente por Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson e Tyler Stewart. A BNL foi formada em 1988 em Scarborough, Ontario, na época subúrbio de Toronto. Entre seus singles mais conhecidos estão One Week, Pinch Me, If I Had $1000000 e Brian Wilson. "Come Wander With Me", trilha do comercial do perfume Pink of Love

Publiquei hoje no blog Meu Blues Pra Você o vídeo do novo comercial do perfume Love of Pink da Lacoste, que tem como trilha a bela música "Come Wander With Me", composta por Jeff Alexander em 1964 para um episódio da série "The Twilight Zone" (Além da Imaginação). No filme, a música é interpretada pela atriz Bonnie Beecher, que contracena com Gary Crosby. Por ser uma balada muito bonita, resolvi trazer o vídeo e a letra da música para compartilhar com você.

A música When the Wind Blows, de David Bowie e Erdal Kizilkay é o tema do filme de animação dirigido por Jimmy Murakami, baseado na novela gráfica de mesmo nome escrita por Raymond Briggs e lançado em 1986.

Esta foi a segunda contribuição de Bowie a um filme baseado nos livros de Raymond Briggs - ele já havia atuado na abertura do filme The Snowman, em 1982. A composição de When the Wind Blows é o resultado da parceria com o multiinstrumentista Erzal Kizilcay, com quem Bowie viria a fazer outros trabalhos, em especial o cd Buddha of Suburbia. A música chegou ao 44º lugar nas paradas, promovida pelo vídeo com uma colagem de imagens do desenho em que aparece o rosto de David ao fundo., que publiquei neste post A partir daí, a música se tornou uma espécie de raridade, e aparece apenas na reedição de Never Let Me Down, em 1995 e em algumas edições européias do tipo "O melhor de Bowie". Diferentemente da maioria dos "lado B" dos anos 80, que costumavam trazer uma versão instrumental da música, esta apresentou uma versão completamente diferente.

A trilha foi composta e organizada por Roger Waters e contou com a participação de vários outros artistas como Genesis, Hugh Cornwell, Peter Hammond, Paul Hardcastle e Squeeze, além da Bleeding Heart Band, que era composta pelo próprio Roger Waters – baixo, violão acústico, vocais em "Towers Of Faith" e "Folded Flags"; Jay Stapley – guitarra; Snowy White – guitarra; John Gordon – baixo; Matt Irving – teclados, órgão; Nick Glennie-Smith – piano, órgão; John Linwood – Linn programação; Freddie Krc – drums, percussão; Mel Collins – saxofone; Clare Torry – backing vocais em "Towers Of Faith"; Paul Carrack – teclados e vocais em "Folded Flags".

Hoje o Mickey Mouse completa 80 anos de existência e, em comemoração ao aniversário do camundongo mais famoso do mundo publiquei seu primeiro desenho animado no Meu Blues Pra Você, o Steamboat Willie, que tem esta música, entre outras melodias familiares aos nossos ouvidos.

"Turkey in the Straw" foi escrita por Dan Bryant, líder dos Bryant's Minstrels e publicada em 1861. Existem várias versões desta melodia, inclusive com referência a Guerra Civil norteamericana.

O primeiro vídeo é a versão de Freddie Fisher e a Schnicklefritz Band, então formada por Freddie Fisher, sopros, vocais; Stan Fritts, trombone, vocais; Nels Laasko, trumpete; Charlie Koenig, contrabaixo; Paul Cooper, piano e Kennie Trisko, bateria. Fritts, Lasko e Koenig saíram em 1939 para formarem a Korn Kobblers Band.

Publiquei esse vídeo do belo trabalho criado pelo talentoso Vangelis para o filme 1492, que narra o Descobrimento da América por Cristóvão Colombo para que ninguém jamais esqueça do maior genocídio da história, praticado pelos invasores espanhóis contra os habitantes do novo mundo, que se perpetua até os dias atuais! Jeffrey Lewis, o roqueiro anti-folk

Jeffrey Lewis

Jeffrey Lewis (20/11/1975) é cantor, compositor e desenhista de HQ nascido em Nova Iorque. Suas influências musicais aparecem nas músicas como "Williamsburg Will Oldham Horror", "The History of The Fall" e "The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song", ligado nas músicas de Leonard Cohen. Suas letras são complexas e cultas, geralmente combinando um ponto de vista niilista com uma mensagem de esperança e forte sagacidade. Cresceu no Baixo East Side da Ilha de Manhattan, suas canções são repletas de referências locais.

Jeff é considerado como parte do movimento Antifolk Norte-Americano principalmente por ter sido um dos muitos artistas (como The Moldy Peaches, Major Matt Mason USA e Lach) a participar, ainda nos anos 90, dos eventos realizados no New York's Sidewalk Cafe e de apresentações “anti-vaia”, de microfone aberto. A sua música também possui traços perceptíveis do estilo antifolk, como o humor corrosivo sobre si próprio e um jeito de cantar pouco caprichado, uma mistura de punk e acústico com temas corriqueiros .

Após assinar em 2001 com o selo inglês Rough Trade (algo como “Jogo Duro”) Jeff lançou seu primeiro álbum “The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane” e, em 2003 o disco “It's the Ones Who've Cracked That the Light Shines Through”. Seu terceiro disco “City and Eastern Songs” foi lançado na Inglaterra em novembro de 2005 e quase um ano depois nos Estados Unidos. Nos três discos, Jeff conta com a participação do irmão Jack, que também compõe e canta algumas músicas. Em 2007, Jeff lançou o ” 12 Crass Songs” onde toca exclusivamente as músicas da banda anarco-pacifista inglesa The Crass (Os Grosseiros).

Jeff é desenhista e também faz o sua própria HQ, chamado “Fuff”, lançado pela editora Olive Juice Music.

Este ano, Jeff e Jack têm se apresentado como show de abertura para diversos artistas, sempre fazendo o maior sucesso!

Minha pesquisa continuou e descobri que o diretor de animação britânico Mickey Please fez esta animação para o lançamento da música End Result, do novo disco "12 Crass Songs". Para realizar o clip com baixo custo Mickey misturou diversas técnicas, de stop-motion a fantoches e marionetes, conseguindo um resultado fabuloso.
