Hoje é dia de lembrar o guitarrista animal Hilton Valentine

Hoje eu mando um forte abraço para Hilton Valentine. Quem? Aquele guitarrista que foi um dos Animals originais, responsável pelo "arpeggio" mundialmente reconhecido no início da música "The House Of The Rising Sun", cujo vídeo publiquei acima. Lembrou? Ele, ao lado de Eric Burdon (vocais), Alan Price (órgão e teclados), John Steel (bateria) e Bryan "Chas" Chandler (baixo) estouraram em 1964 com essa música e chegaram no primeiro lugar nos Estados Unidos.

A melodia foi tirada de uma balada tradicional inglesa, mas a música ficou conhecida como uma canção folk afro-americana. Foi gravada por Texas Alexander nos anos 20 e depois, por um grande número de artistas, entre os quais Leadbbelly, Woodie Guthrie, Josh White, Nina Simone e Bob Dylan (que a gravou em em seu primeiro álbum epônimo, em 1962).
