Janis Joplin interpreta 'Piece of My Heart' ao vivo na Alemanha

Resolvi publicar no Blog O Lobo do Rock a música do novo comercial do perfume Miss Dior cantada pela inigualável Janis Joplin, que postei no Blog Meu Blues Pra Você. A peça usa como trilha a gravação original de Piece of My Heart (de John Acosta e Janes Russell), gravada pela banda Big Brother and the Holding Company, no álbum Cheap Thrills, de 1968 e cuja capa foi desenhada por ninguém menos que Robert Crumb, célebre desenhista da contracultura. Escolhi o vídeo de uma apresentação apoteótica em que Janis é envolvida pelo público.

Janis Lyn Joplin  foi uma cantora e compositora norte-americana. que nasceu em Port Arthur, no dia 19 de Janeiro de 1943 e faleceu em Los Angeles, dia 4 de Outubro de 1970. Era considerada a "Rainha do Rock and Roll" e "a maior cantora de blues e soul da sua geração", ela alcançou proeminência no fim dos anos 1960 como vocalista da Big Brother and the Holding Company e, depois, como artista solo, acompanhada de suas bandas de suporte: a Kozmic Blues e a Full Tilt Boogie. Influenciada por grandes nomes do jazz e do blues, como Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Tina Turner, Big Mama Thornton, Odetta, Leadbelly e Bessie Smith, Janis fez de sua voz, a sua característica mais marcante, tornando-se um dos ícones do rock psicodélico e dos anos 1960. Todavia, problemas com drogas e álcool encurtaram sua carreira. 

Morta em 1970 devido a uma overdose de heroína, Janis lançou apenas quatro álbuns: Big Brother and the Holding Company (1967), Cheap Thrills (1968), I Got Dem Ol' Kozmic Blues Again Mama! (1969) e o póstumo Pearl (1971), que foi o último álbum com participação direta da diva.ida pela platéia, sobe no palco interage com a cantora.
